# Phone

Prices for phone numbers in each of the 55 available countries, plus per-minute call rates, per-segment SMS rates, 10DLC fees and RCS agent fees.

A phone number is the billing unit. [Calls](/platforms/voice), [SMS](/platforms/sms), [RCS](/platforms/rcs) and [WhatsApp](/platforms/whatsapp) are features you enable on it, metered separately as you use them. Everything lands on the same invoice.

## Price

| Outbound call | From $0.010 (US, Canada), by destination | per minute |
| Recording / transcription | $0.004 / $0.03, both optional | per minute, on top |
| [Branded Calling](#branded-calling) | $100 per caller identity, plus $0.10 per call | per month / per call (US) |
| SMS | From $0.008 (US long code), by destination | per segment |

## Price by country

<TelephonyCountryTable />

<RatesGeneratedAt />

Click a country with several number types to see each type's price, provisioning and SMS stock. A country row shows "See types" where its types differ.

Provisioning is Instant (the number activates when you buy), KYC (a one-time [KYC form](/platforms/phone-numbers/kyc), active in 1 to 3 business days) or Pre-order (see below).

SMS-capable numbers means SMS-capable stock exists for that type. It is confirmed per number when you [enable SMS](/platforms/sms/setup).

The last two columns are outbound rates by destination country, not number stock. A dash means no published outbound rate for that destination.

Quote calls with the estimate endpoint below. SMS to a destination outside the SMS deck is blocked.

Calls work on every number. WhatsApp works on every type except toll-free.

<Callout type="warn">
Rates change when carriers reprice. For anything you show your users, quote live: `GET /v1/voice/calls/estimate` ([getVoiceCallEstimate](/platforms/voice/outbound#estimate-the-cost-first)) for calls, and `GET /v1/phone-numbers/countries` ([listPhoneNumberCountries](/platforms/phone-numbers/availability#check-availability-live)) for numbers. SMS has no estimate, and destinations outside the SMS deck are blocked at send time, not billed.

## Phone numbers

Every number has a flat monthly price set per country.

The full month is charged when the number activates, and again on the 1st of each month while you hold it.

The current month is not prorated, and releasing a number stops future months.

There are no setup fees, and the dashboard and the API both quote the price before you buy.

### Pre-order numbers

Types marked Pre-order in the table (Brazil mobile, for example) are not held in stock anywhere. Order them with the same [KYC form](/platforms/phone-numbers/kyc#out-of-stock-pre-order-it).

The carrier sources one for your registration, usually within 2 to 4 weeks and never guaranteed.

The price is the same flat monthly price as any other number. Nothing is billed until the number is active.

### How the price is set

Prices are computed server-side from the carrier's monthly rate for each country and number type. The price is 1.5x that rate, rounded up to a whole dollar, with a $3 minimum.

Cheap markets (the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, Spain and most of Europe) sit at the $3 minimum. The most expensive number is $30.

A country whose carrier cost is too high to price is not offered.

The price at purchase is captured on the number, and renewals always bill it, even if the list price changes later.

Countries with several types (including toll-free) show each at its own price when you expand the country row. Pick one at purchase with `numberType`.

## Calls

Phone (PSTN) calls placed through the [Voice API](/platforms/voice) meter per minute at the rate for the route, from any number you own.

There are no connection fees and no monthly minimums. You pay for connected minutes only.

Rates are per minute to mobile numbers, the most common route. Landlines in the same destination are often cheaper, and the invoice reflects the route the call took.

A destination not listed in the call deck bills at its current route rate, which the estimate endpoint also returns.

Most destinations bill per started minute (60/60): at $0.010 per minute, a 30-second call costs $0.010 and a 61-second call costs $0.020. Some destinations bill in shorter increments.

### Recording and transcription

Both are optional, off by default, and configurable per number or per call. Recording adds $0.004 per minute, and transcription adds $0.03 per minute.

### Branded Calling

[Branded Calling](/platforms/phone-numbers/branded-calling) shows your business name, logo and reason for calling on the callee's phone. It works on calls from US numbers to US mobiles.

| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Caller identity | $100 per month while verified. The first month is charged when the carrier verifies the identity, never at filing: nothing during review or vetting, and nothing if it is rejected |
| Branded call | $0.10 per outbound call from a number attached to a verified identity to a US number, on top of the per-minute rate. Carriers do not report which calls displayed the identity, so every such call counts |

Registering the business and attaching numbers are free. Deleting the identity ends the monthly fee.

### Inbound calls

Inbound calls meter per minute too, but there is no rate card. The inbound leg bills from the carrier's settled record for the call, and nothing quotes it in advance.

The amount you paid is on each call as `billing.billableCostUSD`. Read it from `GET /v1/calls` with `direction=inbound` ([call history](/platforms/voice/history#list-calls)).

[Forwarding](/platforms/voice/setup) to a SIP or WebSocket destination (AI agents, browser calling) has no PSTN leg on the forward side, so you pay the inbound leg only.

Forwarding to a phone number adds a second leg, priced by that destination in the call deck.

## SMS

SMS through the [SMS API](/platforms/sms) meters per segment, and the price depends on the destination. Rates are "from" prices, the floor for that destination, because the exact price depends on the receiving carrier.

| Encoding | Single segment | Each segment of a multi-part message |
|---|---|---|
| GSM-7 | 160 characters | 153 characters |
| UCS-2 (emoji, non-Latin scripts) | 70 characters | 67 characters |

A message is rated after it is sent. Its cost lands on the invoice and in the `sms` total of `GET /v1/usage` ([Get usage](/usage/get-usage)). `GET /v1/usage/sms` reports volumes, not cost.

| Item | Rate |
|---|---|
| Inbound SMS | Free on most numbers. Where the carrier charges an inbound fee (some US routes), it bills at the metered per-segment rate |
| MMS | Metered per message at the route's MMS rate, itemized on your invoice |

### US 10DLC registration fees

US carriers require 10DLC registration before a US number can send SMS ([why, and how to register](/platforms/sms/setup)). Other countries send as soon as SMS is enabled, with no registration and no monthly fee.

| Fee | Price |
|---|---|
| Brand registration (one-time) | $9 |
| Campaign fee, standard use cases | $20 per month |
| Campaign fee, sole proprietor | $4 per month |
| Reusing an approved registration on more numbers | Free |

One approved registration covers all your numbers: [reuse it](/platforms/sms/setup#reuse-an-approval-skip-the-fee) with no repeat fee.

## RCS

[RCS](/platforms/rcs) is priced per agent plus a price per message sent and received. The agent is the verified sender people see: your name, logo and a verified tick.

It requires usage-based billing and a card on file.

| Agent fee | United States | Other markets |
|---|---|---|
| Setup, charged when we file the agent with the carriers | $150 | $150 |
| Carrier approval, charged once when carriers approve it | $750 | None |
| Monthly, from the day the agent goes live | $160 | $75 |

Nothing is charged until we have reviewed your request and filed it with the carriers. The monthly fee is month to month and never runs while the agent is in review.

| Message type | United States | Other markets |
|---|---|---|
| Rich text (text, buttons, links) | From $0.0098 | Priced by destination |
| Rich media (images, video, rich cards, carousels) | From $0.024 | Priced by destination |

Sent and received messages cost the same. US prices are "from" prices: some networks add a carrier fee, and your invoice shows each message's actual price.

A message that [falls back to SMS](/platforms/rcs/sending#sms-fallback) bills at the SMS rate for that destination.

RCS markets: the United States, the United Kingdom, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Bangladesh, India, Singapore, Brazil, Mexico, DR Congo, Nigeria and South Africa. See [carriers per country](/platforms/rcs#countries-and-carriers).

## Example

A US number with 100 minutes of US calls and 500 SMS segments in a month, at the "from" rates:

| Item | Calculation | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Number | 1 × $3 | $3.00 |
| Calls | 100 min × $0.010 | $1.00 |
| SMS | 500 segments × $0.008 | $4.00 |
| **Total** | | **$8.00** |

US SMS also needs [10DLC registration](#us-10dlc-registration-fees), billed on top.
