Tracking pixels

Install an ad platform's pixel or site tag on a connected Webflow site, live after the site's next publish.

Install an ad platform's pixel or site tag on the site with POST /v1/accounts/{accountId}/tracking-tags/{tagId}/install:

  • accountId is your connected ads account (Meta, TikTok, Google, LinkedIn, Pinterest, X, OpenAI or Whop).
  • tagId is the tracking tag.
  • The body names this site's storeAccountId.

The site must be connected with Connect with Webflow (Connect). Webflow lets only apps add scripts to a site, so a site connected with a site token answers 409 reconnect_required with details.authUrl. Connecting it with the app keeps the same account id.

Zernio adds one script to the site's custom code. That script loads the base code of every tag you install, so each tag records page views. The code is the same base code a WordPress install gets.

const { data } = await zernio.trackingtags.installTrackingTagOnStore({
  path: { accountId: '66b2e19d8c3f5a7e9d0b1c2d', tagId: '1234567890123456' },
  body: { storeAccountId: '66b2e19d8c3f5a7e9d0b1c4f' }
});

Response (200), a Meta pixel:

{
  "platform": "metaads",
  "install": {
    "storeAccountId": "66b2e19d8c3f5a7e9d0b1c4f",
    "platform": "webflow",
    "siteUrl": "https://www.example.com",
    "publishRequired": true,
    "tagPlatform": "metaads",
    "siteTagId": "1234567890123456",
    "installed": true,
    "installedTagId": "1234567890123456",
    "tags": [{ "platform": "metaads", "siteTagId": "1234567890123456" }],
    "replacedTagId": null
  }
}

Publish the site

Webflow publishes custom code only with the site. The tag fires after the site's next publish, and the install always answers publishRequired: true. Zernio never publishes the site, because a publish also pushes every other unpublished change in the Designer.

One tag per platform. As on Shopify, the site holds one tag per platform. Installing another tag of the same platform replaces it and names the old one in replacedTagId. Other platforms' tags are kept. Calling the install again with the same tag changes nothing.

Status. GET with ?storeAccountId= returns whether this tag is installed, installedTagId (the tag of that platform the site fires) and tags (every Zernio tag on the site). It reads the site's custom code, so it reports an install before the publish takes it live.

Uninstall. DELETE with ?storeAccountId= removes the tag, live after the next publish. If the site fires a different tag of that platform, nothing is removed and the call answers 409 invalid_resource_state. The Zernio script leaves the site's custom code once no tag remains.

Events

Webflow installs record page views. Storefront events such as add to cart or purchase are a Shopify feature.
